Compassion is a leading charity, working in 25 developing countries to release children from poverty.
We were tasked with creating an immersive experience that would offer visitors an insight into the lives of children who are supported through the charity. In addition, space was needed for visitor registration and an area for supporter sign up.
We delivered a double-pod expandable trailer with an optional canopy. The trailer was split into 11 separate rooms to tell two different stories. In five rooms we recreated aspects of the life of Shamim, a girl from Uganda. In another five rooms we recreated areas from the life of Sameson, a boy from Ethiopia. To make sure the experience was authentic, props and decorations were sourced in-country and smells were sprayed directly into the rooms.
Visitors walked through the experience while listening to the stories of the two children played through headphones and controlled by an ipod.
Both stories emerged into a final space where Compassion's representatives could encourage visitors to commit to supporting the charity; whilst the large external canopy offered space for registration and plenty of room for conversations.
After two years, we were asked to develop a smaller experience to use alongside the larger trailer. We used a 10tonne truck with expandable sides and a branded gazebo for visitor registration. This truck included one story over four rooms and a smaller engagement space at the end.
Compassion engaged BMG to deliver the planning and logistics for this roadshow and our team of Tour Manager, Driver and Brand Ambassadors worked alongside their own staff, visiting churches, schools, city centres, and festivals across the UK, Republic of Ireland, Netherlands and Channel Islands.
Over a period of almost three years, the Compassion Experience saw thousands of children sponsored and supported with education and healthcare.
